Overview

Mold Remediation in Maryland & Connecticut

Mold is a moisture problem first. Humid Maryland summers, damp Connecticut basements, a slow roof leak or a bathroom without a fan all give it what it needs. Spraying bleach on the surface doesn't fix it — the spores stay in the drywall and the moisture source keeps feeding them.

Our remediation follows IICRC S520 practice: find and fix the water source, contain the area under negative pressure, remove contaminated materials, HEPA-clean everything that stays, and verify the result. We treat it like the health issue it is, especially for homes with children, older adults or anyone with asthma or allergies.

Working with your insurance

Mold coverage varies widely — many policies cap it or exclude it unless it results from a covered water loss. We tie our documentation back to the original water event whenever one exists, which is usually what determines whether the remediation is covered.

Our process

How we handle mold remediation

  1. 1

    Inspection

Visual inspection, moisture readings and, where useful, air or surface sampling to establish the extent and the cause.

  2. 2

    Containment

The work area is sealed with poly sheeting and placed under negative air pressure so spores don't spread to the rest of the building.

  3. 3

    Removal

Contaminated porous materials (drywall, insulation, carpet) are bagged and removed; framing and hard surfaces are HEPA-vacuumed and cleaned with antimicrobials.

  4. 4

    Fix the source

The leak, condensation or drainage problem is repaired — otherwise the mold returns.

  5. 5

    Clearance & rebuild

Air scrubbing, final cleaning and (optionally) third-party clearance testing, then the area is rebuilt.

FAQ

Mold Remediation: common questions

Is the mold in my house dangerous?

Any mold growth indoors should be removed. Some people react strongly (allergy, asthma, irritation) and some species produce irritants. We recommend not disturbing it yourself — that releases spores — and calling for an inspection.

Do you test before and after?

We inspect and moisture-test every job. Lab air sampling is available before work, and independent clearance testing after, if you or your insurer want documented proof.

Can I just use bleach?

Bleach doesn't penetrate porous materials, doesn't fix the moisture and can leave the roots in place. Small spots on hard, non-porous surfaces can be cleaned by a homeowner; anything larger than about 10 sq ft or inside walls needs professional remediation.

How long does remediation take?

Most residential jobs take 1 to 5 days depending on the area affected and whether a rebuild is needed.
